Pc-board software runs under X-windows

The package performs schematic capture of both traditional electronic
parts and electrical components such as wire, cables, and connectors

Among the many features of a revised pc-board design software package
from Computervision is its ability to run under the X-windows protocol.
With that capability, Theda Revision 3.0 ports from a workstation to
several PCs or other workstations, thus reducing cost while allowing the
designer to use the software's capabilities on several machines. The
software has two components, a design-entry package and an interactive
pc-board design package called Autoboard. A new feature of the
design-entry package is its ability to perform schematic capture of not
just traditional electronic parts, but also of electrical components like
wire, cables, and connectors. A parametric design-entry feature allows
the designer to define relationships between components during design.
When the designer updates the value of one component, the value of
associated components is automatically updated. Autoboard, the pc-board
design software package, adds a grid-independent routing capability that
enables the designer to automatically or interactively route signals
independent of the grid, circumventing problems like routing components
with odd pitches and situated at odd angles. The software runs on
Hewlett-Packard/Apollo's 9000 series 700 workstations as well as on Sun
and DEC workstations. (Electrical design-entry software, from $5,200;
Autoboard pc-board software, from $21,000–available now.)
