PCB connectors offer ultra-fine pitch

Samtec has announced the availability of its SS4/ST4 Series of Ultra Micro PCB connectors. The board-to-board mated set features the smallest footprint of the company’s Ultra Micro interconnect product line.

These PCB connectors feature an ultra-fine 0.40-mm pitch that enable maximum signal density at 28 Gbits/s NRZ performance and high reliability in high-data-rate rugged applications such as automotive, industrial IoT, robotics and military and aerospace. They offer up to 100 I/Os and stack heights from 4 mm to 6 mm.

The SS4/ST4 connectors deliver a slim 4.35-mm mated width for space savings on the PCB. They feature an operating temperature range from -55˚C to 125˚C and high normal force. They can be used alongside Samtec’s SureWare precision board-stacking standoffs to easily lock the mating PCBs in place, and to help with blind mating. A micro blade and beam contact system is both mating- and alignment-friendly when used for higher-density interconnects at high speeds. Built-in keying supports connector mating/unmating.

The SS4/ST4 0.40-mm connectors are currently available. A variety of standard pin counts and stack height options are available for fast delivery. Pin counts range from 20 to 100, and stack heights range from 4 mm to 6 mm. For pin counts from 20 to 160 at 56 Gbits/s PAM4, refer to Samtec’s SS4/ST4 0.50-mm pitch connectors.
