PD modules advance
PoE integration
Devices are first interfaces to include on-board dc/dc conversion
Significantly reducing component count, design time, and installation cost of Power over Ethernet (PoE) applications, the NMPD series Powered Device (PD) interface modules are presented as the first such devices to feature on-board dc/dc conversion with an 802.3af-compliant data and power interface. Operating with a maximum output power rating of 10 W and an isolation of 1,500 Vac, the modules also integrate data isolation transformers, PSE handshaking, and signature-control functionality.
Working from a nominal 48-V input with isolated output voltages of 3.3, 5, 12, and 15 V, the modules have a typical signature resistance and capacitance of 25 kW and 100 nF, respectively, at 4 mA. Additional features of the 91.8 x 25.1-mm SIP devices include a power-good LED, operation to 60°C, on-board thermal shutdown, and overcurrent protection with automatic recovery.
