This diagram illustates several PDA codec solutions. The shaded boxes encompass the functions of the various AKM chips. As you can see, the AK4533 combines a mono input codec with a touchscreen controller. The AK4534 is a codec without the touchscreen controller, but with several amplifiers integrated (headphone, speaker). The AK4536 combines the amplifers, touchscreen controller and a host of other useful features (PLL, bass boost) in a single chip.
