Pentair introduces complete solution with new Schroff COM system

Pentair Logo
Pentair, a global leader in protecting critical processes, people and the environment, has developed a complete Schroff Embedded COM system including the COM module and the carrier board. This concept is also modular for greater design flexibility.  For example, a wide range of fieldbus connections can be implemented using a pluggable add-on module. Using the XMC slot, FPGA mezzanines or processor modules can be connected to the COM module via the carrier or a custom circuit can be established on the prototype module.

The power solution is also designed as a pluggable module, making it easy to adapt to different line voltages and power outputs. Several power module versions are available to support different input and output voltages as well as power levels.

The enclosure includes cooling solutions based either on fans for forced air cooling or heatsinks for conduction cooling.  Use of the heatsink option allows for an environmentally sealed enclosure.  Enclosures have cutouts for interfaces on the front, rear and sides for the various I/O types and interfaces.  Enclosures are EMI shielded as standard.

Several standard versions of a fully integrated solution are available, and customers may also combine individual solution modules with their own technology.   Pentair’s project management group directly supports customers with integrated system solutions.

In addition, Pentair  has authored an e-book, available online free of charge, discussing the various design strategies for COM systems and how to take advantage of the COM system complete solution.  The e-book can be downloaded here:
