Used for PFC power supplies up to 200 W, the IPS102 controller is designed for high-efficiency critical conduction operations that use small, low-power magnetic components. The controller helps meet IEC Standard 71000-3-2 requirements for personal computers, lighting, and other industrial power systems, such as motor drives.
Controller features include an asymmetric output drive stage for faster turn-off than turn-on. The critical conduction mode PFC is implemented using an internal multiplier circuit that controls the gating of the principal switching MOSFET. The levels of peak and minimum inductor current are set through current analog inputs to an internal circuit multiplier.
