Phenom quad-core processors target high-performance x86 platforms
Family provides optimum performance-per-watt
The Phenom quad-core processor family aims at driving optimum performance-per-watt in high-end x86 computing, The devices feature an integrated DDR2 memory controller, HyperTransport links, and 128-bit floating-point units.
The chips’ design provides on-die interprocessor communication, rather than through a front-side bus external to the processora bottleneck inherent in other quad designs. All four cores have optimum access to the i memory controller and HyperTransport links, so that performance scales well with the number of cores. A shared L3 cache is provided.
