Pin-Configurable, dc/dc converter targets networks

The MIC24046-H is a pin-configurable 5-A synchronous buck converter in a 3 x 3-mm QFN package that offers >90% peak efficiency. The device features pin selectable output voltage, switching frequency and current limit settings, and eliminates multiple external components. It targets network switches/routers, servers, storage, base stations, FPGA and DSP power as well as factory automation and security cameras.

The synchronous buck converter operates over an input voltage range of 4.5 to 19 V making it suitable for distributed 12-V point-of-load applications. It offers three settings for switching frequency (400 kHz, 565 kHz, or 790 kHz) and the output voltage can be selected from 0.7 to 3.3-V via nine different settings. An internal divider is used for 1% VOUT accuracy setting from 0.7 to 1.2-V. The current limit can be selected to support 3, 4, or 5 A. The converter provides hiccup-mode short circuit protection, internal soft-start, safe pre-biased start-up, and thermal shutdown. The device has a junction temperature range of -40° to +125°C.
