PIN photodiode has enhanced UV sensitivity

The TEMD5080X01 PIN photodetector has 400-nm (UV) sensitivity 300% higher than that of a standard PIN photodiode. With an overall sensitivity range of 350 to 1,100 nm, the AEC-Q101-qualified device suits industrial and medical applications such as smoke and flame detectors, UV and visible spectrophotometers, and dermatological-treatment and blood-analysis equipment.

The RoHS-compliant photodiode has 7.7 mm2 radiant-sensitive area, 40-ns rise/fall times, peak sensitivity at 940 nm, and a ±65° angle of half sensitivity. Its surface-mount package measures 4.24 x 5.0 x 1.12 mm. ($0.55 ea / 5,000 — samples available now; prod qty, 2nd qtr.)
