PMBus-compliant ¼-brick converter provides 420-W

The UDQ series of isolated, ¼-brick dc/dc converters include a PMBus-compatible digital interface. The 420-W converters incorporate a 32-bit ARM7 processor with an Advanced Bus Converter pinout for PMBus communications. The UDQ2204/001 model is an isolated, fully regulated, 420-W,12-Vout converter that supports the TNV input voltage range of 36 to 75 V with a typical efficiency of 95.5%. It uses proprietary firmware to control all critical functions. The module suits applications such as MicroTCA, servers, storage, networking equipment, POE, wireless networks, industrial and test equipment.

Attaching an I2 C bus helps monitor Vin, Iin, Vout, Iout, and operating temperature. The PMBus can be used to set warning flags for temperature, Vin, Vout, Iout and allows the user to customize parameters such as Vout, Vin turn on/off thresholds, output over voltage protection, output current limit and ramp up characteristics. Typical applications include distributed power architectures and intermediate bus architectures.
