PMICs extend battery life

The AAT2782 and AAT2783, two PMICs for portable applications, combine two step-down converters with a low VIN LDO. The devices can power both traditional power management functions and noise-sensitive circuits. They operate from a 2.7 to 5.5-V input range and provide three independently regulated dc outputs. The two step-down converters on the AAT2782 deliver 1,200 and 600 mA, respectively.

The two step-down converters on the AAT2783 supply 1,000 mA and 400 mA. A 1.3-MHz switching frequency supports the use of small external filters. The LDO operates from a 1.7-V input, and delivers up to 400 mA with a –80-dB power supply rejection ratio and 65 µVrms output noise with an optional bypass capacitor.
