Pocket temperature logger has LCD readout too
Rugged under-$70 USB recorder can hold up to 8,000 readings, take 1 reading/min for two years
The pocket OM-MICROLITE USB 2.0 temperature monitor/data logger is not only able to store data for later analysis but, unlike earlier pocket instruments, it can also instantaneously display readings on its LCD. This makes it much easier to verify proper operation in the field, as well as locate places in need of monitoring.
The 110 x 39 x 26 mm, 45.5 g logger meets IP 68 standards for dustproof, waterproof performance and its internal sensor covers a 40 to 80C (F reading is selectable also) with 0.1°C (16-bit) resolution and 0.3°C accuracy. It comes with a magnetic key to start recordings on site, and it can take readings every minute for up to two years using a common, field-replaceable 3-V lithium battery. The LCD also provides an alarm icon when crossing predefined thresholds and indicates when the battery is low.
The data logger is available in 8- and 16-Kbyte data storage versions and MICROLAB-LITE software, which can be downloaded for free, offers analysis functionality for the PC that includes statistical maximum, minimum and average. Om-MicroLab, a more advanced package sold separately, provides compliance with FDA Title 21 CFR Part 11 and a secure USB port dongle. ($67 with 8 kB, $75 with 16 kB available two weeks ARO.)
