PoE PD platform is first to integrate 2-kV isolation

Said to be the industry’s first PoE-powered controller with 2kV integrated isolation, the AS1854 targets next-generation appliances including IP phones, IP cameras, wireless access points, thin-client terminals, and WiMAX equipment. The SoC is built around the patented GreenEdge digital isolation technology, and eliminates optocouplers and integrates the functionality of up to nine ICs. It integrates a dc/dc converter, two buck regulators, and one buck/boost PWM.

The device controller features cross-isolation dc/dc timing management and digital power control that delivers up to 90% dc/dc efficiency across the range of light-to-full-load conditions. The device implements diagnostic features and high-voltage telemetry features. The isolation technology enables remote monitoring and control of IP appliance power subsystems, enabling network-based energy management. The AS1854 is available in a 64-pin 9 x 9-mm QFN package.
