Live Edge contest judges picked

Distributor Premier Farnell recently announced the panel of judges for its international 2007 Live Edge design competition. The list comprises:

Sir Peter Gershon CBE FREng, the non-executive chairman of Premier Farnell plc; Professor Sir David King KB SCD FRS, Government Chief Scientific Adviser and Head of Government Office for Science; Mark Kenber , policy director, Climate Change Group; Dr. Alla Cordery , head of electronics engineering, Oxford Brookes University; Robert Rodin , CEO of RDN Group Inc.; Maximilian Huber , president Sharp Microelectronics Europe GmBH; Mr. Yu Donghai , dean of electronics engineering, Southeast University; Mr. Mingtao Jiang , Section Chief, Information Technology Development, China Ministry of Information Industry (MII).

“We are immensely proud to have such a distinguished world-renowned group of industry professionals as our panel of judges for this first ever electronic design competition for the global environment,” said Harriet Green, CEO, Premier Farnell. Judging criteria includes usefulness of the application, originality and innovation, technical merit, its effect on the global environment, feasibility of the design, efficient use of energy, end of life consideration, innovative use of components, cost optimization, completeness of design dossier and clarity of supporting documentation.

Last chance for Rejustor design challenge

Speaking of design contests, your chance to win either a pair of 2008 Harley Davidson touring motorcycles, or a 2008 Mini Cooper zips by at the end of the month, as all submissions for Microbridge’s Rejustor Design Challenge are due in by Dec. 31 2007. Two second-prize winners will get a 56-in.-LCD Samsung HDTV, and seven third-prize winners receive a Nintendo Wii Video Console.

The challenge provides a contestant with the ability to submit a novel circuit design idea for any of the Rejustor devices available from Microbridge. Check out www.microbridgetech.com for more information.
