Popular design/test software delivers multicore performance
Providing state charts and symmetric multiprocessing capabilities, program improves test, control, and embedded-system/FPGA application development
Created for use in test, control, and embedded-system development, the LabVIEW 8.5 graphical system design platform simplifies multicore as well as FPGA-based application development with its intuitive parallel dataflow language. Running on multicore processors, it can deliver faster test throughput, more-efficient processor-intensive analysis, and more-reliable real-time systems, even for existing LabVIEW programs and with little or no change.
The software scales user applications based on the total available number of cores and delivers enhanced thread-safe drivers and libraries to improve throughput for RF, high-speed digital I/O, and mixed-signal test applications. An enhanced FPGA Project Wizard automates I/O configuration, IP development, and overall setup for common I/O, counter/timer, and encoder applications.
For embedded and industrial applications, the software provides a state-chart design module to model and implement system behavior, in addition to I/O libraries and analysis functions for industrial monitoring and control.
Used with the LabVIEW Real-Time environment, the platform also delivers symmetric multiprocessing, letting designers provide automatic load balancing across multiple cores without sacrificing determinism. At the same time, users can manually assign portions of code to specific processor cores to fine-tune real-time system performance or isolate time-critical sections of code.
