Popular Digitally Programmable Potentiometer (DPP™) Now Available in Ultra-Small 2 x 2.5mm TDFN Package from Catalyst Semiconductor

Catalyst Semiconductor, Inc. (NASDAQ:CATS)a supplier of analog, mixed-signal and non-volatile memory semiconductors has announced the availability of its popular CAT5114 Digitally Programmable Potentiometer™ in an 8-lead 2 x 2.5mm TDFN package, making it the world’s smallest non-volatile digital potentiometer. This tiny form factor helps designers further compress board space in today’s ever-shrinking portable products which currently use digital potentiometers in larger packages.

CAT5114 – 32-tap, non-volatile digital potentiometer comes in 10kΩ, 50kΩ, 100kΩ versions

The CAT5114 in 2 x 2.5mm TDFN can also be used to replace mechanical potentiometers and trimpots in applications including LCD screen adjustment; tamper-proof product calibration; contrast, brightness and volume control; gain adjustment; motor control and feedback systems.

The CAT5114 digital potentiometer is a pin-for-pin replacement for Intersil’s X9315, but offers the added choice of the very small 2 x 2.5 TDFN package. The CAT5114 is also functionally equivalent to Intersil’s X93154 50kΩ digital potentiometer, with additional 10kΩ and 100 kΩ end-to-end resistance values and a wider supply voltage range (2.5V to 6V).
