Power controllers target LED lighting

Suited for LED retrofit bulbs up to 25 W, the CY8CLEDAC01/02 ac/dc digital power controllers offer a cost-effective solution for both nondimmable and dimmable LED lighting. The parts meet Energy Star requirements and offer automatic dimmer detection, so they work with the majority of the existing installed base of wall dimmers, providing dimming down to 2% with no flicker.

The parts offer primary-side sensing with tight LED current regulation, eliminating the need for optoisolation and other secondary-side control circuitry. The built-in protection features include OVP, output short-circuit protection, peak current-limit protection, current-sense resistor short protection, and OTP. Both the CY8CLEDAC01 (nondimmable) and CY8CLEDAC02 (dimmable) controllers are offered in 8-pin SOIC packages. (Call company for pricing — available now.)
