Power inductors operate up to 150°C

Taiyo Yuden has expanded its family of metal power inductors with an extended operating temperature range and low DC resistance.

Taiyo Yuden Co. Ltd. has added seven devices in two sizes to its AEC-Q200 qualified MCOIL LCCN series of multi-layer metal power inductors. These include the LCCNF1608KKTR24MAD, LCCNF1608KKTR33MAD, and LCCNF1608KKTR47MAD inductors in a 1.6 × 0.8 × 1.0-mm package size. Four additional devices are available in a 2.0 × 1.2-mm package.

The new power inductors are designed as choke coils in power supply circuits for automotive body and information systems such as instrument clusters and infotainment devices. The new LCCNF1608KKTR24MAD power inductor, as an example, offers a wider operating temperature range of -55°C to 150°C than the existing LCCNF1608KKTR24MA product (-40°C to 125°C). In addition, the LCCNF1608KKTR24MAD are said to offer industry-leading DC superposition characteristics (saturation current at 3.2 A max) and low DC resistance (35 mΩ max), while maintaining the compact size of MCOIL LSCN series.

Taiyo Yuden launched the AEC-Q200-qualified LCCN series in part to meet the increasing demand for more power supply circuits in automotive system applications. The LCCN series is based on the MCOIL LSCN series inductors, which use a multi-layer structure that enables the development of smaller, thinner products. This is particularly advantageous as more electronics components are integrated into modules for automotive systems.
