Power-line analyzer yields extensive data
This ac power-line analyzer diagnoses power problems as a standalone unit
or when connected to a PC or laptop to view events in real time. When
plugged into a grounded outlet, the analyzer monitors the power for 24 to
72 hours. It stores the data in its internal RAM memory. The data can also
be connected to a PC by connecting the analyzer to the serial COM port of
the PC. Power Audit Software analyzes spikes, sags and surges, dropouts,
power failure, true rms ac line voltage and frequency, common-mode noise,
high-frequency noise, phase shift, and neutral line voltage. Each power
audit chart contains the actual disturbance event data, indicates symptoms
that are related to these disturbance types, and recommends a specific
solution. Power disturbances are presented on the PC as detailed or
summary reports, bar or pie charts, power quality audit, or sine-wave
graphics. ($595–stock.) Extech Instruments, Inc. Waltham, MA Arpineh
