The SM2400 multistandard OFDM based power-line communications (PLC) transceiver IC can operate in a wide range of noise-prone smart-grid environments. The single chip includes the PHY and MAC, along with a high level of programmability to address a multitude of communication schemes.
The IC features a dual-core architecture and is compliant with IEEE 1901.2, PRIME, G3-PLC, and CTIA/EIA709.2. The chip’s operational band is within the 5 to 500-kHz range with selectable differential and coherent BPSK, QPSK, and 8PSK. ($1.95 ea/10,000 — samples available now.)
