Power-line modem includes PHY and MAC

The AMIS-49587 power-line carrier modem targets applications such as smart electric automatic meter reading and management, street lighting control, smart power plug, and building automation. The chip is IEC1334 compliant.

The chip has an ARM7TDMI processor core and includes both the PHY and MAC network layers. The LCC 28-packaged IC employs spread-frequency-shift-keying (S-FSK) modulation for half-duplex selectable communication speeds of 2,400 bits/s (baud) at –40° to 80°C. ($11 ea/1,000 — available now.)
