Power MOSFET switch drivers are low cost
The MIC5014/15/16/17 family of high-side MOSFET drivers has an operating
range of 2.75 to 30 V. The devices have internal charge pump circuits that
provide gate voltage enhancement above the positive supply voltage to turn
on n-channel MOSFETs that switch from 50 mA to 100 A of current. The
drivers have both load dump and reverse battery capability, and can handle
an output swing of up to 20 V below ground. In addition, an overvoltage
shutdown at 35 V prevents damage due to supply excursions. The MIC5014
(non-inverting single), MIC5016 (non-inverting dual), MIC5015 (inverting
single), and MIC5017 (inverting dual) devices are available in plastic
DIPs, CerDIPs, and SO packages. (From $0.65 ea/large qty–available now.)
