Power stage hybrid ICs target Class D amps

The STK282-100-E series power-stage hybrid ICs suit Class D amplifiers that produce 600-W output power. The single-package device uses insulated metal substrate technology and driver ICs. The hybrid ICs target home theater systems, DVD receivers, and small stereo systems.

The power stage IC uses a discrete MOSFET as an output transistor, and offers 92% power efficiency, an improvement of 6% over monolithic ICs. Power loss at 100 W is 18 W compared to 34 W for conventional monolithic ICs, and radiating heat resistance is 6.87°C/W compared to 4.48°C/W for conventional ICs. ($10 each — available March 2009.)
