XP Power Ltd. unveiled a EPL 150 series of AC/DC power supplies that enables designers to minimize heat dissipation and meet space constraints and compliance parameters inherent in a variety of industrial, ITE, and medical applications. The EPL 150 series combines a small footprint and low profile with high efficiency and low noise. Applications include medical body-floating (BF) devices, automation and process control, information technology equipment (ITE), broadcast, and oil and gas in which size, performance, efficiency, and safety approvals are required.
In addition to a tiny size of 2 × 4 inches and a low profile of 0.99 inches, key specifications include 100-W output with convection cooling and 150-W forced cooled ratings with 10-CFM airflow, low-noise output complete with a 12-V fan supply, and less than 0.5-W no-load input power. Full power is available to 50°C with derating to 70°C ambient temperature with overvoltage, overload, and short-circuit protection.
XP Power claims that the EPL 150 series delivers class-leading power density with its peak efficiency of 95% typical at 150 W and >85% achieved down to a 10% load. This high level of efficiency, according to XP Power, provides designers a cool, fit-and-forget solution to its customers.
The power supply targets BF medical applications in which conductive contact with patients occurs, such as blood pressure monitors and non-cardiac surgical equipment. Two means of patient protection (2× MOPP) from input to output and (1× MOPP) from input to earth and output to earth are suitable for BF use. Patient leakage current is
The EPL 150 series is priced at $49.98 for 500-piece orders and comes with a three-year warranty.
