PowerPC MPU balances price/performance

The PowerPC 440EPr superscalar processor features 500 MHz speed, dual GbE ports, 32 bit PCI, USB 2.0 Host with PHY, support for 32-bit DDR2 memory, and a security engine. The 1000 DMIPS performance chip takes just 3.5 W typical.

The IC includes a double precision floating point unit compatible with the IEEE 754 for high performance print and image processing applications. Its security engine supports IPSec, SRTP and SSL across the full range of packet sizes. (Less than $20 ea/10,000—samples available Q2.)
