The chip has a typical power dissipation of 8 W and provides an up-grade path for engineers using the PowerPC 440GX and 460GT. It uses an 800-MHz to 1.4-GHz clock and yields performance of 2,800 DMIPS at 1.4 GHz. The IC has an 8-lane Gen 2 PCIe interface, 512 Kbytes of level 2 cache, a DDR2-800 SDRAM controller, a fast, multichannel DMA controller and dual internal buses.
