Processor targets portable multimedia

The SH-MobileR2R (SH7724) 32-bit application processor is intended for use in IP security cameras, car navigation systems, and personal navigation devices. The chip has a 24-bit dedicated audio DSP, 24-bit color LCD controller, a USB 2.0 host/function interface, a 2-D graphics accelerator, an I2C interface, and a 10/100 Ethernet MAC.

The 500-MHz IC has two camera module interfaces and supports terrestrial digital TV broadcast with a video-processing unit and multicodec video-processing IP. Basic processing performance is 900 MIPS and FPU performance is 3.5 GFLOPS, using the chip’s 64-Kbyte primary cache and 256-Kbyte secondary cache. ($31 to $36 samples available August.)
