Processors handle encryption/compression

The 8200 series PCI-Express applied services processors provide power-efficient encryption and compression for storage and networking applications. They offload from a host CPU the computationally intensive tasks necessary to compress, de-duplicate, and secure data both in block form for storage and packet form for networking.

The 8201 handles up to 150 Mbytes/s and takes only 0.6 W typ; the 8202 300 Mbytes/s at 0.8 W; the 8203 600 Mbytes/s at 1.2 W; and the 8204 750 Mbytes/s at 1.9 W. All the devices support the newest encryption algorithms, including AES-GCM and Elliptical Curve Cryptography, industry-standard lossless compression algorithms LZS, eLZS, as well as GZIP, and key authentication/hash algorithms. All four devices deliver a high-performance public key engine that supports up to 14,000 RSA ops/s. (From $26 ea/volume qty samples available now.)
