Profibus/RS-485 xceiver is rugged, fast

The MAX14770E BiCMOS Profibus-DP/RS-485 transceiver enables 20-Mbit/s data throughput with robust ±35 kV HBM ESD-protection. The IC comes in either a tiny TDFN8 or a SO8 package and is short-circuit protected, thermal-shutdown protected, and hot swappable.

The chip operates from a 4.5 to 5.5-V supply at –40° to +125°C and features a 1/4 standard-unit load receiver input impedance, allowing up to 128 transceivers on the bus. (From $1.90 ea/1,000 — available now.)
