PTC thermistors guard automotive applications

The PRG21/18 PTC thermistors provide overcurrent protection in automotive applications. The thermistors allow for resin coating — with an adjacent component — for greater thermal sensing and protection of this component. The thermistors can be used with LEDs to control current to dynamically verse a typical resistor, and can protect HEV/EV batteries.

Available in both 0603 and 0805 sizes, the thermistors can be quickly interfaced to a microcontroller. The devices have no hysteresis and can be used as a resettable fuse. The thermistors withstand Pb-free soldering reflow up to 260°C. Operating temperature range is 40 to 105C. (Samples, $0.12 to $0.15 — 1 to 3 weeks ARO.)
