Resistor pulse capability is a key specification in many applications. In this application note, Vishay's LPS 800 thick film power resistor is used as an example to explore a method for evaluating the suitability of a resistor for a particular application. The method can be used for each resistor type using the pulse curve or limiting voltage provided in its datasheet.
