Push-pull amp suits CATV set-top boxes

Ideal for 75-Ω applications in CATV set-top boxes, line amplifiers, and fiber nodes, the HMC754S8GE GaAs InGaP HBT dual-channel gain-block MMIC amplifier is rated from dc to 1,000 MHz. When configured with external baluns for push-pull operation, this device delivers 14.5-dB gain, 38-dBm output IP3, and up to 78-dBm output IP2.

Simple external matching allows the amplifier to be optimized for ±0.5-dB gain flatness from 50 to 1,000 MHz. Housed in an RoHS-compliant SOIC-8 package with an exposed ground paddle, the HMC754S8GE consumes 160 mA from a single 5-V supply. ($5.80 ea/10 — available now.)
