The LTC3873/-5 current-mode PWM controllers contain all the features necessary to design high-efficiency single-ended isolated and nonisolated flyback converters up to 25 W. Sustaining operation from 4 to 75 V after startup, the LTC3873 suits wide-input-voltage-range applications where the input can vary from 9 to 75 V during startup.
The LTC3873-5 offers a 3.9-V undervoltage lockout, which allows converters to operate and start from a 5-V input source up to 75 V. Both parts include 50-µA startup current, adjustable current limit, internal or external soft-start, current-mode control, 200-kHz constant frequency operation, and optional current-sense resistor. The LTC3873 is offered in 8-lead 2 x 3-mm DFN and 8-lead TSOT-23 packages and has an operating temperature range from –40° to 85°C. ($1.25 ea/1,000—available now.)
