QorIQ 45-nm communications MPUs feature dual cores, low power
1,200-MHz dual-core device takes only 7.5 W
The QorIQ (pronounced “Kor-I-Q”) communications processor series targets next-generation networking applications and is based on advanced 45-nm process technology. The P1020, P1011, P1010, P2020, and P2010 pin-compatible devices range from a 400-MHz single core to a 1,200-MHz dual core and take just 3.5 to 7.5 W.
The processors have a 256- or 512- Kbyte L2 cache, up to three GbE and/or three PCI Express ports, high-speed USB 2.0, and dual 4-channel DMAs. The P20xx series also has dual Serial RapidIO channels.
They also have SPI and I2C I/O, a security engine, and a DDR2/DDR3 SDRAM memory controller with ECC. The chips have an available junction temperature range of 40° to 125°C and come in a 689-pin wirebond power-BGA package. (Ea/volume qty: P10xx, from $23; P20xx, from $50 — samples available starting in 4th qtr.)
