QorIQ processor SOCs target wireless

The QorIQ Qonverge series of processors target 3G/4G wireless infrastructure with a common architecture that scales from small to large cells and supports multiple standards including LTE. The base-station-on-chip ICs target next-generation femtocell, picocell, metrocell, and macrocell designs.

The devices combine multiple Power Architecture cores and StarCore DSPs with a MAPLE multimode baseband accelerator, packet processing acceleration engines, a security engine, fast interconnect fabric, and 45- and 28-nm process technologies. The PSC9130/31 devices handle 8-16 users (WCDMA, LTE, CDMA2K) and simultaneous multimode, with 2 x 2 MiMO. The PSC9132 pico/enterprise femto SoCs take on 32-64 users (WCDMA, LTE) and simultaneous multimode with 2 x 4 MiMO. (Price not yet determined available 3rd and 4th qtr.)
