Quad 10G Ethernet PHY supports MACsec encryption

The VSC8258 quad channel 10/40G PHY enables government-grade, FIPS-197-certified 128/256-bit MACsec encryption to protect critical network infrastructures. The device supports full, line rate encryption at both 1 GbE and 10 GbE speeds over multiple media types with an adaptive equalization receiver and programmale, mult-itap transmitter pre-emphasis.

ICDJH06_Vitesse_Mar2015 Together, the ICs Intellisec IEEE 802.1AE MACsec and VeriTime IEEE 1588 timing and synchronization deliver line-rate 256-bit encryption with the industry’s de facto highest accuracy timing, as required for TD-LTE and LTE-Advanced mobile networks. Intellisec’s “tag-in-the-clear” capability also provides the network transparency needed to enable use of third party networks. The IC takes only 1.2 W, typical, for each bidirectional channel. Two other PHY versions are available: the VSC8256 re-timer and repeater and the VSC8257 with only IEEE 1588.
