Quad-core Cortex-A72 based CPU takes just 7 W

The QorIQ LS1046A 64-bit processor is said to be the industry’s lowest power quad-core Cortex-A72 based device. It includes packet processing acceleration and is said to have a 7 W power envelope. The IC has a 2 Mbyte L2 cache, and two 10 G, one 2.5 G, and four 1 G Ethernet controllers.

The device features family-wide software and pin compatibility and has three USB 3.0 ports, three PCIe controllers, and a SATA 3 controller. The chip also has a security engine, ARM TrustZone, secure boot, secure debug, tamper detection, and secure key storage. It offers support for hardware virtualization. Available Q3 2016.
