Parts offer efficiencies up to 95% and output voltages as low a 0.8 V

Claimed by the company to be the first of their kind to be housed in QFN packages, the LTC3544/B quad synchronous step-down dc/dc converters deliver up to 300-mA, dual 200-mA, and 100-mA continuous outputs from a 3 x 3-mm package. Features include an input voltage from 2.25 to 5.5 V, output voltage as low as 0.8 V, a switching frequency of 2.25 MHz, and efficiency of 95%.

The LTC3544’s burst-mode operation minimizes quiescent current to 70 µA total for all four channels under no-load conditions, while the LTC3544B uses a pulse-skipping mode instead, providing a low output ripple. Both devices also feature 100% duty cycle, soft-start, short-circuit protection, and overtemperature protection. No Schottky diodes are required. (From $2.95 ea/1,000—available now.)
