Quad/triple-core x86 processors target business apps
2.4-GHz CPUs feature fast HyperTransport core, memory interconnect, and low power
The Phenom X4 9750B quad-core and Phenom X3 8750B triple-core business-class processors feature high performance with a low-power envelope. The chips both run at 2.4 GHz and take only 95 W. They have 512 Kbytes of L2 cache per core, 2 Mbytes of shared L3 cache, HyperTransport 3.0 interconnect, and direct-access DDR2-1066 memory support.
The 65 nm process devices provide up to 24 months of stability on first-issue desktop models and have up to 450 million transistors. Their 16-bit HyperTransport link yields up to 8 Gbytes/s I/O bandwidth or 16 Gbytes/s in Gen 3.0 mode. They also feature power-saving modes that can be switched on or off within a single clock cycle, saving energy without compromised performance. (9750B, $224; 8750B, $180 available now.)
