The Power Sources Manufacturers Association (PSMA) Capacitors Committee is sponsoring an Industry Session at APEC 2015 titled, “Applications Dictate Capacitor Technology.” The session will take place Wednesday, March 18th, 2015, from 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM at the Charlotte Convention Center in Charlotte North Carolina, and will feature seven experts from capacitor companies that serve the power electronics industries, including Kemet, Electronic Concepts, Cornell Dubilier, TDK, NWL and W. L. Gore and Associates.
The Industry Session on capacitors will feature presentations covering the latest applications for capacitors in power electronics and how technologies have been developed to meet them. These will include automotive and other transportations systems, higher temperature systems above 125°C, energy production, medium-voltage motor drives and filter capacitors subjected to ac waveforms. This valuable session will help attendees gain a better understanding of various component configurations and factors shaping capacitor component technologies. By attending the sessions, OEMs designers, system designers, and component developers will gain an awareness of new options; therefore helping component developers to provide more effective configurations and system designers to better optimize their power electronics.
The Industry Session will be co-chaired by NWL’s Ralph Kerrigan, who also co-chairs the PSMA Capacitor Technical Committee, and Fred Weber from Future Technology Worldwide. They noted that the PSMA Capacitor Committee was delighted at the enthusiastic acceptance and large attendance of the committee’s industry capacitor sessions at APEC 2011 and 2013 and they expect similar success at APEC 2015. “Clearly, power-electronics designers value practical application information on capacitors and the APEC Industry Sessions are the perfect forum,” stated Kerrigan. “This Industry Session will give the latest performance information and roadmap for capacitors and allow attendees to interact with other professionals who are active in the design and application of capacitors. We encourage registering for APEC 2015 and attending this session on capacitors.”
