Rad-tolerant FPGAs target space-flight gear

The RT ProASIC3 family of radiation-tolerant FPGAs are fully reprogrammable flash-based devices and come with 600-k or 3-M system gates. The ICs’ flash cells do not exhibit single-event upsets in the presence of heavy ion radiation and no triple-chip redundancy to mitigate configuration upsets is required, unlike SRAM FPGAs.

The two devices have 108 or 504 Kbytes of RAM, 270 or 341 single-ended I/Os, and 1.2 to 1.5-V core and I/O voltage support for low power. They come in hermetically sealed ceramic packages — either Column Grid Array or Land Grid Array. (Contact company for price and availability)
