Radio IC integrating WLAN, Bluetooth, FM capabilities is industry’s first
The WiLink 7.0 quad radio single-chip solution is offered as the industry’s first to integrate WLAN 802.11n, GPS, FM transmit/receive and Bluetooth technologies. The company claims that, by integrating these capabilities on a true single chip, this 65-nm solution not only eliminates coexistence issues, but also reduces costs by 30% and size by 50% compared to today’s existing solutions.
This complete hardware and software part brings connectivity features to mainstream products such as smart phones, mobile Internet devices (MIDs), portable media players (PMPs), gaming devices, and personal navigation devices (PNDs). Extended talk time and battery life delivered with Sophisticated Enhanced Low Power (ELP) technology, Voice over WLAN (VoWLAN) support, on-chip Unlicensed Mobile Access (UMA) and IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) acceleration.
The chip also supports the soon-to-be-ratified Wi-Fi Direct and Soft AP mode capabilities. The FM core supports an internal antenna. (Call company for pricing — prod qty, end of 2010.)
