Intersil acquires Quellan
Intersil announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Quellan, a privately held leader in the design of high performance analog signal processing integrated circuits. Quellan’s i Q:ACTIVE technology delivers unmatched signal integrity for improved system throughput and density with reduced power consumption. Quellan’s ICs are embedded inside active copper interconnects that dramatically improve the signal integrity, speed, density and distance of existing platforms, providing up to three times the signal reach of traditional passive cables. Quellan’s noise-cancelling ICs can also reduce interference from various noise sources to achieve exceptional signal sensitivity for a wide range of devices.
According to Dave Bell, Intersil’s Chief Executive Officer. “Quellan’s Q:ACTIVE technology is complementary to our video and DSL businesses, and we believe it will enable us to further penetrate new and existing high-margin markets.”
