Real-time emulator targets 8/16-bit MCUs

The low-cost E100 emulator is said to offer enhanced ease of use and works with Renesas M16C, H8SX, H8S, H8, and R8C families of 8- to 32-bit processors. It allows real-time in-circuit emulation at bus cycle speeds up to 130 MHz.

The system has a main unit and a plug-in series-specific MCU unit as well as a 4-megacycle capacity trace memory. It features multiple acquisition modes, including a novel “repeat-fill” option that captures sequential 513-cycle “windows” around a point of interest. The sophisticated GUI lets engineers make settings with visual dialog or simple drag-and-drop actions. (Emulator, $2,134; MCU unit, $828; PCB adapter, $421 — available now.)
