Real-time spectrum analyzer has top POI

For the highest assurance of finding those short, hard-to-catch intermittent signals that can wreak havoc with transmission quality and other aspects of electronics performance, the PXA X-Series signal analyzer with N9030AK-RTx real-time spectrum analysis (RTSA) option , from Agilent Technologies, can detect intermittent signals with durations as short as 3.57 µs — the best probability of intercept (POI)currently available. Coupled with unmatched analysis bandwidth, sensitivity, and frequency range-capabilities, the RTSA lays claim to being the ultimate way to see, capture, and understand highly elusive signals when developing applications in radar, electronic warfare, and military communications.

Able to take measurements across broad analysis bandwidths up to 160 MHz within its 50-GHz input capability, the real-time PXA provides 75-dB spurious-free dynamic range, thus helping detect more signals inless time. In addition to sensitivity of −157 dBm at 10 GHz (without preamp),the PXA lets users vary the resolution bandwidth within a measurement span. The combination of capabilities lets users better resolve closely spaced signals, identify intermittent low-level signals, and further improve POI.

The 89600 VSA software that runs on the PXA offers deeper analysis and thorough characterization of complex signals so users can find the root cause of signal problems; its advanced troubleshooting tools support measurements in all three key domains: time, frequency, and modulation. The software also provides connections to other instruments from the company, such as vector signal generators and arbitrary waveform generators, so users can play back captured signals to test new designs. (85-MHz analysis bandwidth option, $7,224; 160-MHz analysis bandwidth option, $10,320; complete PXA with 160 MHz option, from $96,304 — available now.)
