Real-time spectrum analyzer rockets to 20 GHz

Real-time spectrum analyzer rockets to 20 GHz

Targeting signal analysis applications for radar, electronic warfare, and spectrum management, the RSA6120A real-time spectrum analyzer extends all of the RSA6000 series’ measurement capabilities out to 20 GHz. Said to provide industry-leading dynamic range and channel flatness, the unit employs the swept DPX transform engine to reveal previously unseen signal anomalies for systems and components that operate in the X (8 to 12-GHz) and/or Ku (12 to 18-GHz) bands.

Above 6 GHz, the instrument has a spurious-free dynamic range of 75 dB and a third-order intercept of +19 dB. It also features industry-leading channel flatness operation for all measurements due to a switched-filter preselector — flatness across 100 MHz, for instance, is specified at ±0.7 dB rms and ±1.5° rms. This level of performance is due to an enhanced vector calibration procedure.

The unit provides radar designers with powerful signal analysis tools, including impulse response as well as 26 other automated pulse parameter measurements, statistical measurement, and waveform replay with acquisition history. The analyzer also lets designers set up automated measurements that reduce time-to-insight for transmit waveforms, validate a transmitter’s design, and debug problems in a radar receiver.
