Receptacle offers early engagement allowing shorter pins

Accepting lead diameters from 0.018 to 0.023 in., the 0507-0-15-XX-31-27-10-0 receptacle provides an early engagement contact point with minimal overall length: the minimum mating lead length for reliable electrical contact is 0.054 in. The internal contact allows for short receptacle designs due to its 0.062-in. length and the fact that its design does not require excess protrusion through the contact fingers for electrical connection. The ability to use shorter mating pins provides several advantages such as compressed packaging, shorter electrical signal paths, and lower potential RF signal interference.

To satisfy tight packaging constraints, the solder-mount receptacle has a low-profile (0.020 in.) and total length (0.090 in.). Its shell is made from brass alloy that is high-speed machined to precision tolerances. A four-fingered contact — precision stamped from beryllium-copper strip and heat treated to provide excellent spring and electrical properties — is press-fit into each shell to form a gas-tight connection; shell and contact are gold-plated (tin and tin/lead plating options are also available). Current rating is 3 A at 10°C rise in free air.
