Rectification controller suits flyback topology
The FAN6204 synchronous rectification controller suits fixed-frequency or quasi-resonant flyback converters and discontinuous or continuous conduction mode operation. It includes a control method without current-sense circuitry and uses a proprietary linear prediction timing-control technique that is not limited to the RDS(on) of the synchronous rectification MOSFET. The device targets desktop PCs, all-in-one PCs, and notebook adapters.
The rectification controller features PWM frequency tracking and secondary-side winding voltage detection enabling it to operate in fixed- and variable-frequency systems, and making it adaptable to flyback and forward free-wheeling topologies. The VDD operating voltage is 5 to 28.5 V, provides pin over-voltage protection and a 12-V typ gate drive clamp. It is available in an 8-pin SOP package. ($0.57 ea/1,000 – available now.)
