Diodes Inc. has introduced the latest addition to its portfolio of ReDrivers with the introduction of a 1.8-V, 2.5- Gbits/s ReDriver that supports four data lanes. The DIODES PI2MEQX2505 is the first ReDriver to support the MIPI D-PHY 1.2 protocol, targeting mobile and IoT applications.
The ReDriver features four differential channels that provide programmable receiver equalization, output swing, and pre-emphasis. These capabilities enable longer PCB trace lengths while reducing signal latency, cost, and power, said Diodes. It supports ULPS and LP power states and sub-mW in shutdown state.
Offering low-power consumption, the PI2MEQX2505 consumes 135 mW in active mode, 5 mW in low-power mode, 2 mW in ultra-low-power mode, and 0.2 mW in standby mode. The low-power consumption helps to extend the battery life of portable devices, including MIPI cameras, such as laptops and personal computers, said the company.
Optimized for mobile applications, the new ReDriver contains activity detection circuitry on the D-PHY link interface that can transit into a lower power mode when in ULPS and LP states, said Diodes.
The PI2MEQX2505 is lead-free and RoHS compliant as well as halogen- and antimony-free. The operating temperature range is –40°C to 85°C.
The PI2MEQX2505, supplied in a small TQFN-28L (ZH) (3.5 × 3.5 mm) package, enables high-density channel routing. The ReDrivers are priced at $0.70 in quantities of 3,500.
Earlier this year, Diodes released its first ReDrivers that address the high-data-rate DisplayPort interface. The two new multiplexer/demultiplexer (mux/demux) linear ReDrivers support the 20 Gbits/s DisplayPort ultra-high bit-rate (UHBR20) transmission mode.
