Reference design isolates HV digital inputs

The Corona subsystem reference design (MAXREFDES12#) provides a compact and simple isolated digital input interface for industrial control and automation applications. The design serializes eight 36 V input channels and allows a large reduction in the number of isolators required, significant power savings, lower cost, and smaller size.

The design uses three primary ICs: a MAX31911 octal digital input translator/serializer, a MAX14850 6-channel digital isolator, and a MAX13256 36 V H-bridge transformer driver. The 90 x 20 mm Corona design targets digital input modules for PLCs, industrial automation, process automation, and motor control applications. The $45 package includes hardware and firmware design files.
